April 13, 2008 Matt came up yesterday and we got a hold of Lenny & his buddy Dan up in Greenland to hook up for a late season ride on the new snow. We horsed around having a good time, picking our way thru the woods til about 4:00 - 4:30. The snow had already started to turn mush and the stucks started taking their toll. This has been a GREAT YEAR!!! with about 4 1/2 months of riding... So.. is this the last sledding report of the season???? WE RIDE!!! (one more time)
April 12, 2008 On Thursday Al decided the season was over and put away the sleds... This morning him and Matt pulled them out to head north... (time sure does seem short between seasons up here!!!) Will post pics of the "last" ride of the season when they return.
April 1, 2008 Mother Nature played her own April Fools Day prank on the northwoods today... With the trails officially closed as of 12:01 am this morning we woke up to what I think is our biggest dumping since Christmas... But I guess we can't complain because this season was some of the best trails in many years. Ok snow, time to melt so we can bring out the Harley & Vette... then..
March 28, 2008 Rode in White Pine with Dawn, Matt, Glen & Phil, left Mineral River Lodge in the morning. Most of the trails were absolutely perfect... with the exception of right along the lake in Silver City and rough coming down into White Pine. Other than that they were flat, smooth, fast and perfectly covered everywhere. Enough to even have Dawn cracking off at 85-90 mph.. LOL.. Had an AWESOME!!! AWESOME!!! Day... Finished the evening off with dinner at Root Cellar where Jamie, Pam, Pat & Carrie joined us. P.S. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MATT
March 27, 2008 Trails were a little rough out of White Pine, but once we hit trail 13 all the way up to Twin Lakes was AWESOME!!! We met up with Jimmy D and Steve in Rockland and they rode with us the rest of the day. Phil sure got a work out for being a rookie first time out. Let's see if he'll be able to put his boots on in the morning.. He might be too stiff. LOL Glyrnd was having a ball (Hi Haley) To tired to write more, so I'll just post pics.. LOL
One Last Horray!!! Al pulled out early this morning with Glen & Phil and headed up to White Pine... I'll meet up with them later tonite for a few last days of riding... There will be a group of about 7-9 of us to finish out the season.. We'll be staying in White Pine at the Mineral River Lodge. Hopefully will be able to post a report from up there otherwise when we return Saturday or Sunay. So for one last time of the season...
March 19, 2008 Quick ride today to see what the trails looked like. At the gas pumps I hooked up with Roger B & his buddies from Iowa, we rode up to Phelps then over to Conover for a Burger at Log Cabin. The trails were NICE til then. I needed to head back to Eagle River, our daughter & her boyfriend drove up to see us from Wausau. I pointed Roger toward Boulder & I rode straight back, it was about 2pm. WOW...the warmth & sun had things melting quick, lots of puddles and a few spots getting bare. Today is the warmest day in the forecast for the week. Hopefully temps will drop and keep the trails in good shape a bit longer. Tomorrow I am running up to the UP to play with Trackside Greg and Goodyear for the day. Should be a good time...
March 5, 2008 Explored and played in the morning with decent powder everywhere and ended up hooking up with 2 local guys Jared & Dean who invited us to ride along with them boondocking cross country. We had a BLAST!!! We climbed areas and went places I would of never attempted on my own. We didn't get back in til after dark. They met back up with us at the resort where we b.s.ed for a couple hours.
